Ultra Clean Systems awards three IAHCSMM 2021 scholarships
Rita the Reprocessor scholarship challenge winners display creativity in
adapting to disruptions caused by COVID-19
Oldsmar, FL—Ultra Clean Systems, a manufacturer of precision-made ultrasonic cleaning systems for surgical instruments, announced during International Sterile Processing Week the recipients of IAHCSMM 2021 scholarships from its fourth annual contest. The recipients were chosen from entries in Ultra Clean’s themed Rita the Reprocessor scholarship challenge (inspired by Rosie the Riveter), where sterile processing professionals were asked to describe how they adapted to challenges and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The grand prizewinner is Toni Amorine of Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, PA. Toni received a scholarship to IAHCSMM 2021, a one-year subscription to PROCESS magazine, her IAHCSMM membership was renewed for one year, and $500 in expense assistance. Runners-up Carla Cuer of United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY, and Nicole Booth of Barrett Hospital and Healthcare in Dillon, MT, were awarded IAHCSMM 2021 scholarships, a one-year subscription to PROCESS magazine, and their IAHCSMM memberships were renewed for one year.
“There isn’t enough engagement for all the sterile processing professionals out there and with this year’s challenge, our readers have an outlet for being involved that is fun, engaging, and gives them a greater reason to be proud that they are keeping patients safe,” said Tom Overbey, director of marketing at Ultra Clean. “Sometimes it seems like a thankless job.”
Thank you to everyone who entered the Rita the Reprocessor scholarship challenge and congratulations to our winners. All of us at Ultra Clean Systems and NewSplash appreciate your hard work and dedication to patient safety.
Keep an eye out at IAHCSMM 2021 and in NewSplash for additional follow-up to Rita the Reprocessor and other announcements from Ultra Clean Systems.
